  2. At paymentclaims.ai

    We check

Your login, your role and your company

  3. From your account

ChatGPT asks, and paymentclaims.ai answers. It only ever gets what your login can see.

Once ChatGPT is connected, you can ask it about your contracts, claims, retention and what's due, and it answers from your paymentclaims.ai account. It signs in with the paymentclaims.ai login you already use, and it can only see what your login can see.

This page is for ChatGPT. If you use Claude, see Connecting and using Claude.

Who can use it

You need a ChatGPT plan that lets you add your own server, and you use it in a web browser at chatgpt.com. ChatGPT calls this a custom MCP server or a plugin, which is its name for a connection to another app.

Your ChatGPT planCan you connect paymentclaims.ai?What you need first
BusinessYesOnly a ChatGPT workspace admin or owner can add it. Ask them to add it and publish it to your workspace, then you install it.
Enterprise or EduYesYour ChatGPT admin either adds it for you, or turns on your permission to create plugins with MCPs.
ProYes, for readingNothing. Pro can read but can't make changes, and everything on this page only reads.
FreeYes. We tested it on 19 October 2026, though OpenAI's help pages don't list FreeNothing.
Plus or GoOpenAI doesn't list these plans, and we haven't tested themIf you don't see Add custom MCP server in step 2, your plan doesn't include it.

Whoever adds it may be asked to sign in to paymentclaims.ai while doing it, so if your ChatGPT admin is adding it, it's easiest if they have a paymentclaims.ai login. Everyone else signs in with their own login the first time they use it.

ChatGPT only sees the organisations and companies your login can see, and only does what your role allows. What you ask, and what paymentclaims.ai sends back, goes through ChatGPT, so OpenAI's terms for your ChatGPT plan apply to it. When you connect, ChatGPT tells you it may share relevant chats and memories with paymentclaims.ai, and that what paymentclaims.ai sends back may be used to improve OpenAI's models if Improve the model for everyone is on. That setting is in ChatGPT under Settings, then Data controls.

You don't need to turn on developer mode. Some older instructions online still mention it.

Connecting it

If your ChatGPT admin adds paymentclaims.ai for your workspace on Business, Enterprise or Edu, they do steps 1 to 4 and publish it to the workspace. You then find paymentclaims.ai at chatgpt.com/plugins, install it, and carry on from step 5.

  1. Open Plugins. In a web browser, go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Add a custom MCP server. Select Add at the top right, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Fill in the details.
    • Name: paymentclaims.ai
    • Description: Payment claims, schedules and retention (optional)
    • Connection: leave Server URL selected and enter https://app.paymentclaims.ai/api/mcp. Type it exactly, including /api/mcp at the end.
    • Authentication: leave it on OAuth. ChatGPT finds the rest of the sign-in settings itself, so leave Advanced OAuth settings as they are.
  4. Create it. Read the warning, tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin. Give it a few seconds.
  5. Connect it. ChatGPT shows what it shares with paymentclaims.ai. Select Connect paymentclaims.ai.
  6. Sign in to paymentclaims.ai. Our sign-in page opens in a new window. If you're already signed in to paymentclaims.ai in that browser, it goes straight to step 7. Otherwise, sign in the way you normally do. You sign in on our own page, so ChatGPT never sees your password.
  7. Allow access. Our consent screen shows who ChatGPT will act as, what it can do and what it can never do. Check it's your name and email, then select Allow access.
  8. Ask your first question. Back in ChatGPT, open paymentclaims.ai under Installed at chatgpt.com/plugins and select Try in chat. After that, in any new chat, type @ and choose paymentclaims.ai. Then ask one of the questions below.

The first three questions to ask

Start with these. The first one checks the connection works.

  1. "Which paymentclaims.ai companies can you see?" ChatGPT lists every organisation and company your login can reach. If you have more than one company, tell it which one you mean.
  2. "Which payment schedules are overdue?" It lists the claims you've served that are still waiting on a payment schedule, and marks the ones past their deadline. It also lists the contracts where you can put in your next claim.
  3. "How much of our retention is still being held, and how much can we ask to have released now?" It gives you the retention still held from you across your contracts, and the part that's ready to be released.

paymentclaims.ai sends a link with each claim and contract, so you can ask ChatGPT for the link and open it. The deadlines come from paymentclaims.ai, counted in business days for the state, territory or country each contract is under. Before you act on one, check it in the app.

What it can't do

ChatGPT reads your account. It can't send anything to a head contractor, and nothing it does costs you a fee from us.

Never. Our consent screen lists the first four as well:

  • It can't serve or submit a payment claim. Only you can, in paymentclaims.ai.
  • It can't incur a Claim Fee. Nothing it does is chargeable.
  • It can't confirm a contract read from your documents. A person does that in paymentclaims.ai.
  • It can't reach billing, members, Xero or MYOB, or create or delete a company.
  • It can't see a company you aren't a member of, and it works on one company at a time.

Not from ChatGPT:

  • Filing a new subcontract. ChatGPT can't send the document through to us, so upload new subcontracts in paymentclaims.ai as you do now.
  • The ChatGPT phone app. OpenAI only offers custom servers on the web, so use chatgpt.com in a browser.

ChatGPT writes its own sentences around the figures it gets from us, so it can still word something wrongly. If an answer matters, check it in paymentclaims.ai.

If something doesn't work

What you seeWhat to do
There's no Add custom MCP server optionYour ChatGPT plan doesn't include it, or on Business, Enterprise or Edu only an admin can add it. Ask your ChatGPT admin, or check the plans above.
ChatGPT can't connect when you create itCheck the server URL is exactly https://app.paymentclaims.ai/api/mcp. If it is, wait a minute and try again. We limit how many new connections can be made each minute.
Our sign-in page won't let you in after a few triesWe allow three sign-ins every ten seconds from the same internet connection, so people in one office share it. Wait a few seconds and try again.
The consent screen says "This authorisation request is no longer valid"It has expired. Start again from ChatGPT.
No paymentclaims.ai window opens at step 6Your browser may have blocked it as a pop-up. Allow pop-ups for chatgpt.com and try again.
ChatGPT answers without using paymentclaims.aiType @ and choose paymentclaims.ai in the chat, or start your question with "Using paymentclaims.ai".
ChatGPT asks which organisation or company you meanTell it the company name. If you have more than one, ask "Which paymentclaims.ai companies can you see?" first.
ChatGPT asks you to sign in to paymentclaims.ai againYour access expired, or someone disconnected ChatGPT in paymentclaims.ai. Sign in again when it asks.
ChatGPT asks you to approve an actionThat's one of the two tools for filing a subcontract. Filing doesn't work from ChatGPT, so you can decline.
On Business, Enterprise or Edu, a new paymentclaims.ai feature isn't available in ChatGPTChatGPT keeps the list of what paymentclaims.ai offers from when the plugin was published. Your admin refreshes it and publishes the update in workspace settings. New contracts and claims show up straight away.
Anything elseEmail contact@paymentclaims.ai with what you asked ChatGPT and roughly when.

Asking before it reads

ChatGPT reads from paymentclaims.ai without asking you each time. If you'd rather it asked first, go to Settings, then Plugins, select paymentclaims.ai, select Permission and choose Always ask.

Turning it off

In paymentclaims.ai, go to Account, find Connected applications, and select Disconnect next to ChatGPT. It stops on ChatGPT's next question.

You can also remove it in ChatGPT: go to Settings, then Plugins, select paymentclaims.ai and select Uninstall. Disconnect in paymentclaims.ai is still the way to be sure access has stopped. On Business, Enterprise or Edu, your ChatGPT admin controls whether the plugin stays available to your workspace.
